Introduction of County College of Morris

County College of Morris, or CCM, is a two-year community college located in Randolph, Morris County, New Jersey. It was founded in 1958 as part of the New Jersey state college system and offers associate degrees and certificates in over 60 disciplines. The college has an open admissions policy, admitting all high school graduates or those who have earned the General Educational Development (GED) certificate.

CCM is divided into 3 schools: Business, Technology, and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Public Safety. CCM’s student newspaper is called “The Trailblazer”. The paper has been published since 1965 and is available online at www.ccmtrailblazeronline.com and print copies can be found in some campus buildings and at several off-campus locations throughout Morris County. “The Trailblazer” is published every other Monday during the fall and spring semesters.

CCM has made national headlines in 2014 for its new addition to the course schedule, a class titled “White Racism” taught by Professor James Livingston, which claims that “white racism is everywhere, lurking underneath nearly every interaction, influencing institutions without anyone noticing, and dogma that is rarely questioned.”  A student of the college who wishes to remain anonymous has stated that this course fulfills one of the general education requirements needed to graduate from CCM.
